SUMMARY:Cover Reveal of A Seed Once Sown - A Misplaced Adventures Novel
DESCRIPTION:The first book in the Huntress and Harvester series\, A Seed Once Sown – A Misplaced Adventures Novel by Jessica Raney\, is almost ready. We want to invite you to be the first to see the cover and to hear a bit of the story read by the author. \nBack cover blurb: \nThe seeds of a legend grow in tales told around campfires and in whispers in dark corners of taverns. Magdalena Verran is a legend\, a hunter who never misses her mark or loses a bounty. But now that legend is about to come to an end. For over three-hundred years\, she’s harvested souls as an indentured servant to a pair of bickering gods. With her team of horses and an impressive magical blue scythe for a hand\, Mags is poised to deliver the last soul she owes\, then her debt will be settled and the gods can go pick on someone else for a change. \nBut life—even one centuries old—is never that simple and reaping leaves behind scars on the families and the harvester. Before she can turn in her scythe\, Mags’s past transgressions catch up to her in the form of a trio of young criminal wannabes. Saving them just might be a way to balance her sins. But between the involvement of the gods and the trio’s own recklessness\, Magdalena finds her skills—and patience—tested. \nSomehow Mags must find a way to avoid angering the gods further\, complete her new bounty without adding more blackmarks to her soul\, and save the trio of young adventurers who seem determined to wind up dead. Pulled in multiple directions\, Mags’s legendary skills are put to the test. One misstep and she endangers the lives of her young companions and her own soul.

SUMMARY:20 Questions with David Ekrut
DESCRIPTION:As avid readers\, we at Cursed Dragon Ship Publishing have grown bored with the questions in “respectable” interviews. What about the really important ones\, like what is their least favorite chore or their favorite flavor of ice cream? This week we’ve booked David Ekrut. \nDr. David Ekrut wrote his first epic fantasy novel while earning a PhD in Biomedical Mathematics\, raising three energetic children\, and teaching elementary mathematics at Florida State University. Somehow he survived all of this self-inflicted torture without a caffeine overdose\, though he did push the limits his brain could sustain by consuming copious amounts of coffee. To this day\, he likes to tease his thesis advisor that while waiting on feedback on his dissertation\, he wrote an entire novel. \nAfter retiring from a career as a cancer research scientist\, he now writes full time (as a medical writer by day and a novelist by night). Taming the Elements\, the first book in the Elwin Escari Chronicles has sold tens of thousands of copies in 8 different countries—digital\, print\, and audio formats are available. Two more novels exist in this series with more in the works. \nHe grew up reading and rereading the Wheel of Time series. Having influenced him for decades\, Jordan and Sanderson are colossal figures in his writings. Whenever stuck in his own works\, he studies their worlds for inspiration. \nHis greatest joy\, besides writing about himself in the third person\, is to work out believable mechanics for magic systems—a place for him to apply his understanding of physics and engineering in a creative way. Though his first novels have found a modicum of success\, he is more excited about the drafts he has in the pipeline\, as well as the ideas he has yet to discover. \n

SUMMARY:Book Launch: Touch of Faete by Ligia de Wit
DESCRIPTION:Come join us for the launch of debut author Ligia de Wit’s novel Touch of Faete\, a romantic fantasy. \nWe’ll be giving away two signed copies of the freshly minted paperback. \n \nCuriosity kills little seers who get too close to bradaís\, the eternal foe of the fae. \nAll Ryanne Kelly dreams of is a normal dating life\, which is impossible when her fae gift of foresight tells her exactly how badly each romance will end. Just when Ryanne decides to give up on dating\, she meets a mysterious stranger who doesn’t activate her seer gifts. \nTitus Doyle has adjusted to modern living despite the fact that he is an immortal bradaí who yearns for the good ole times. He and his band of mercenaries use the internet to find new clients to quench his thirst for gold. His lust to kill fae\, however\, is much harder to satisfy. When Titus meets Ryanne\, he recognizes her as a seer and knows what she is worth. \nAs their two lives collide\, the primeval battle between fae and bradaís reignites. Ryanne’s human side sees more in Titus than the killing machine the fae claim him to be. Meanwhile\, Titus must fight his primal urges as his feelings for Ryanne grow. \nWhen an ancient queen of the fae gives Ryanne a special mission\, Ryanne’s success holds the fate of all fae\, and maybe bradaís too\, in her hands. If she fails\, not only will she lose her touch of fae\, but the land she loves will be obliterated\, and so will the fae. \nWe’ll see you on Tuesday\, March 21 at 8 p.m. CT live on Twitch.

SUMMARY:20 Questions with Marisa Wolf
DESCRIPTION:As avid readers\, we at Cursed Dragon Ship Publishing have grown bored with the questions in “respectable” interviews. What about the really important ones\, like what is their least favorite chore or their favorite flavor of ice cream? This week we’ve booked Marisa Wolf.\n\nMarisa Wolf is a second-generation nerd who started writing genre stories at six. At least one was good enough to be laminated\, and she’s been chasing that high ever since. Over the years she majored in English to get credits for reading\, taught middle school\, was headbutted by an alligator\, built a career in education\, earned a black belt in Tae Kwon Do\, and finally decided to finish all those half-started stories in her head. She’s written in shared universes across SFF\, including military science fiction and space opera in the bestselling Four Horseman Universe (with six co-authored novels: Assassin\, Hunter\, and Ally with Kacey Ezell\, Night Song with Mark Wandrey\, The Lyons’ Pride and World Enders with Chris Kennedy\, and a co-edited anthology with Kacey Ezell\, Negotiation)\, urban fantasy in Hit World (with The Valkyries Initiative)\, and video and table top gaming in tie-in stories.\n\nWith over twenty short stories across multiple publishing houses\, she’s had the opportunity to range from romantic fantasy to postapocalyptic genetic nightmares\, and multiple genre points in between. Her forthcoming novel with Baen Books grew from one of those short stories\, so no wonder she’s not planning to stop any time soon.\n\nShe’s currently based in Texas\, but as she lives in an RV with her husband and their two absurd rescue dogs\, it’s anyone’s guess where in the country she is at any given moment. SUMMARY:20 Questions with Sam Knight
DESCRIPTION:As avid readers\, we at Cursed Dragon Ship Publishing have grown bored with the questions in “respectable” interviews. What about the really important ones\, like what is their least favorite chore or their favorite flavor of ice cream? This week we’ve booked Sam Knight. \nA Colorado native\, Sam Knight spent ten years in California’s wine country before returning to the Rockies. When asked if he misses California he gets a wistful look in his eyes and replies he misses the green mountains in the winter\, but he is glad to be back home. \nHis family is filled with avid readers\, and Sam says his own passion started when he pressed his grandfather to find out what was so interesting that he just sat and stared at it. His grandfather handed him a book\, and Sam has been a reader ever since. Sam claims to have finished the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings trilogy in fourth grade and says he can still remember the look\, feel\, and smell of some of those early books. (He has been spotted sniffing books as he ruffles the pages.) \nWhile doing research for a Western novel\, Sam was not surprised to be told that\, once upon a time\, half of his family had been on the wrong side of the law. It stands to reason that when your great-great-grandfather was a marshal in Cripple Creek\, Colorado\, someone in the family had to be a horse thief. Sam was\, however\, surprised to hear the family name had originally been McKnight\, and that the thieves had taken the ‘Mc’ part of the name with them. (Or the lawmen let them have it in order to distance themselves from that side of the family.) Having served a stint working in a correctional facility\, Sam has often wondered if being a lawman runs in the blood. His great grandfather upheld the law in Mooreland\, OK\, as well as Springfield and Florence CO\, among other places\, with his sons (Sam’s grandfather and great uncle) occasionally deputized to assist. \nWhen asked why he would want to become a writer\, Sam recounts a time when he was in fifth grade. Illness stuck him in bed for two weeks with only books for companions. (This was a bit before video game phone implants were in common use.) He burned through the Xanth trilogy (back before it expanded into thirty some books)\, the Riddle of Stars trilogy\, a couple of John Carter of Mars books\, and a few Pip and Flinx novels\, relishing the moments when he would become so engrossed he would forget the ills of the physical world. A thought floated through his mind at that time\, about being able to return the favor to the authors who were providing so much to him. That thought never left\, and now he sincerely hopes anyone picking up one of his stories can find something they were looking for. \nAs well having been Distribution Manager for WordFire Press\, Senior Editor for Villainous Press\, and doing miscellaneous things for various other small publishers\, Sam started his own publishing company\, Knight Writing Press. He has curated and edited over a dozen anthologies\, is the author of six children’s books\, four short story collections\, four novels\, and over 75 short stories\, including three co-authored with Kevin J. Anderson\, two of which were media tie-ins: a Planet of the Apes story and a Wayward Pines story. Based upon his experiences curating and editing anthologies and numerous other stories\, as well as being involved in the publication of well over 400 titles in some way (he stopped counting in 2019)\, Sam released Blood from Your Own Pen: A Practical Guide on Self-Editing and Common Mistakes (now out in its 2nd Edition). \nA stay-at-home father\, Sam attempts to be a full-time writer\, but there are only so many hours left in a day after kids and slush piles. Once upon a time\, he was known to quote books the way some people quote movies\, but now he claims having a family has made him forgetful\, as a survival adaptation. Drop in and see what he is up to at SamKnight.com and knightwritingpress.com. If you have something you want to say\, leave a comment\, or contact him at sam@samknight.com or at knightwritingpress@gmail.com. If you write short stories\, check for open submissions at knightwritingpress.com. SUMMARY:Book Launch: The Healer by Kelly Lynn Colby
DESCRIPTION:Come join us for the launch of book two in the Emergence series\, The Healer by Kelly Lynn Colby. The empath has found stability in her curse turned gift until her brother returns to town and throws her completely off balance once again. \nWe’ll be giving away two signed copies of the freshly minted paperback. \nFauna Young has come to grips with her empathy. What she had considered a curse has proven to be a gift as she helps her new friend\, Detective Mateo Flores\, with cold cases\, bringing closure to families in pain. Her best friends\, Amelia and Gina\, know about her empathy and have accepted it without question. She’s even in a stable relationship with the perfect man. \nEverything is coming up Fauna\, until her con artist brother\, Forrest\, returns to town. Not only does Forrest have a new person with supposed healing abilities under his charm\, but mysterious deaths are happening all around him. At the same time\, an unidentified illness sickens the homeless population that flocks to the Healer. Fauna knows he’s up to no good\, but can’t bring herself to believe he’s a murderer. \nIf she can’t solve the case\, Fauna will be implicated in an old murder from her time as her brother’s partner in scamming wealthy patrons. Since her abilities don’t work on her brother\, Fauna can’t fall back on her crutch to discover what’s really going down. Is her brother a killer or another victim caught in the killer’s web? Will Fauna’s newfound peace erupt into chaos as the truth unfolds? \nMaybe empathy is a curse after all. \nWe’ll see you at 8pm Central Tuesday\, Nov 8 on Twitch.
