Nerd Con 2

We got to keep the poster. How cool is that?

We sold books, moderated panels, talked to authors, and played table top games at Nerd Con 2. This free event is set up by the Chambers County Library system as a way to raise awareness of all the cool activities and resources available at the local library. Cursed Dragon Ship Publishing, LLC was lucky enough to sponsor this event which acted as the first convention we’ve attended as a publisher.

Mind you, the sign applies to full priced books in person. Otherwise, it’s half of all proceeds.

Our first release, Legend of Dorks presents: Laundered – An Anthology of Monster Messes, stood front and center for full charity potential. (It’s not too late to purchase one to support Toys for Tots. Half of all proceeds goes to the charity while the rest goes into the physical production of the book.)

Our good friends at Halcyon Games, Brian and Frankie, brought games for people to sample. It makes a huge difference if you get to actually touch the pieces and experience the game play before purchasing an expensive game. Part of the fun of pop culture cons involves doing new things that you bring home and share with your friends. For that reason, Cursed Dragon Ship Publishing has taken on the mantle of table top gaming lead at Nerd Con.

(Unfortunately, I don’t seem to have any pictures of us playing games. I need to hire a photographer to follow us around or something.)

The amazing group of volunteers that made this thing happen.

James Chisum and Jerry Shafer, pictured all the way on the right, are our fearless leaders in this quest to create a free, family-friendly, pop culture convention. They emphasize inclusion, safe cosplay, creativity, celebrity interactions, and good, old-fashioned fun. Cursed Dragon Ship is proud to be included with this group of hardworking individuals, striving to build something great.

Librarians, public officials, and nerds, oh my.

The planning board has already met for next year. Save the date: Saturday, December 5th. After a tour of the Eagle Pointe facility, we’ve assigned an entire room for table top gaming and a dedicated space available in the afternoon for participants in the cosplay contest. You don’t want to miss out on the fun!
